An accomplished military figure with more than two decades of experience in the industry, Walter L. Hinton II excels as an in-flight refueling program manager and a military technician with the Washington Air National Guard. In this role, he leads 24 boom operators, leads the operation of air refueling missions, flies aircraft, takes care of ground support personnel, and ensures that employees are being paid well and fairly. Attributing his success to being a people person at heart, he has always prioritized people over anything else.
After graduating from high school, Mr. Hinton enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1994, serving on active duty until 2001. Among his most notable achievements was advancing to the rank of chief master sergeant and being the first African-American to be a chief boom operator within his unit. Over the course of his career, he has maintained strong connections to his industry as a member of the Career Enlisted Aviators since 2001, and the Army Sergeants Association and the National Association of Guardsmen since 2010. In addition, to bolster his expertise, he wields an associate degree in professional military education.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Hinton has contributed numerous articles to local publications. He also enjoys snowboarding and boating, extensions of his love for adventure and the outdoors. Looking toward the future, he is looking forward to a good retirement and to start teaching as a career enlisted aviator instructor.
